Mimi and Pops came to KY

Ben's parents were here last week to go to a conference at the creation museum in Cincinnati. We were thankful to be able to spend a little bit of time with them before and after the conference. They brought a few folks with them from Ben's home church in Alta. We had a blast hanging out with the whole crew and getting a little bit of a taste of home. We sure miss every one out there in Cali. Noah wasn't sure what to do with all the attention and people holding him.

Where did they go? Noah's sad face @ the airport seeing mimi and pops off.

Such a happy little guy

Bath Time

One of my favorite times of day is bath time. Noah sits in the water and kicks his legs and waves his arms like crazy and squeals. I love how he smells fresh out of the bath too. I thought these pictures were fun because I have the same ones in his green piggy towel when he was around a month or so. He has changed so much.

I think the flash got to him on this one :)

This one cracks me up

Lil Coos from Lil man

Probably my favorite thing right now that Noah does is after he nurses he will just lay there and talk and coo at me. It is precious. Here is a little example...

Flat head=tummy time

So the doctor said that Noah has a really flat head and needs to spend more time on his tummy. Whops...I thought that about 10 mins a day was all he needed and since he doesn't really like it, we didn't do it much. Sorry son, I hope that it isn't permanent. She also said that the muscles in the right side of his neck are stronger than the left. Caused by laying him down in his crib only one way, so she said we need to start changing it up a bit, or he might end up like Zoolander and only be able to turn one way the rest of his life.

Found my yelling voice

Noah LOVES his mobile, which has bunnies on it. He loves to look at them and "talk" to them. Today he woke up from a nap doing this. So cute

I kidd you not

This is the world that we live in:) So I am hoping to find a child to babysit during the week so that we don't have to loose my income completely after quitting Humana. I did have a co-worker of mine that just had a baby and had asked me to nanny for her during the week. It didn't really work out monetarily speaking, we both had different ideas of pay. So I have been looking on the local college web sites for posted nanny positions. I stumbled upon this gem yesterday:

Company / Position: Private Family / Childcare Provider / Nanny

Description: We are seeking an experienced childcare provider to care for our 9 week old daughter. We require someone who can care for our baby full time. That means 7:30-5:00 or 5:30 M-F. We practice attachment parenting and are seeking someone who knows about this style of parenting or who is willing to read up on it. We ask that the caregiver "wear" the baby and provide lots of engaging activities.

Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have at least 3 years of providing in-home nanny experience, preferably with 2 years experience with infants. Early childhood development majors will get first consideration.

Hours Per Week: 40-45

Ok....so I don't know your "parenting style" and don't get me started. This is not a bash against "attachment parenting", (it is a parenting style that the baby is worn in a sling or carrier all day and sleeps with the parents) Ben and I don't practice it, but I know there are people that do. But this ad just struck me as hilarious and frankly sad. You are practicing a style of parenting that is supposed to benefit your child by a high level of attachment to their parent, and this genius is looking for some one else to do it. Is it just me or does this scream "I am a lazy parent and don't want to do it myself, so I am willing to pay someone to be attached to my baby for me".? Come on...."attachment parenting" where the only attaching your baby will get to you is a few hours at night and the weekends? wow

Summer Time

Summer is in full swing here in KY. Even though we have had some weeks that were blazin hot, I keep reminding myself of what I feel like in January/February when it has been cold and snowy for 4 months straight, it makes me thankful for the heat! We are blessed to have a great pool at our apt complex and use it often. Especially when Ben gets home from a long hot day working landscaping.

The little man went to the Dr today and is doing wonderfully. Here are the stats, just because they are fresh in my mind:

Weight: 16 lbs 10 oz
length: 26 1/2 inches long

So in baby land, he is in the 75th percentile for weight and in the 95th percentile for his height....hum tall and lankey maybe?, wonder who that kids parents are?

He also got 3 shots. Dad was there today and got to help the little trooper through it. Shot #1 was not so bad, shot #2 got a sad face and some wimpers and by shot #3 it was an all out wail. But the tough guy was ok once daddy scooped him up and cuddeled him a bit.

We gave him rice cereal last night for the first time which was hilarious. His facial expressions were a mix of confusion and disgust. We got it on video so I'll post that soon. I was actually really really sad to give him cereal. I have loved breastfeeding the little guy so far. I always thought moms were weird for saying this, but I think I might cry when he is all done and completely on solid food...

Little Man and Dad on July 4th

Our friends David and Anna- they are expecting at the end of Dec. The 5 of us walked down to a little street fair they had for 4th of July in our neighborhood. It rained the whole time...but was still pretty warm

David held Noah almost the whole time, getting a little practice in

We went to Hubers last weekend and this was a baby cow that Ben loved to let suck on his finger.

By the end of the day these two are pooped. So sweet

We have taken Noah in the pool a few times. He really doesn't seem to mind. Sometimes it is a little too cold for him, but most of the time he just sits in his floaty and kicks his feet.

He is happy in the pool that is if Dad doesn't dunk him....I think this picture was right after Ben dunked him....(Please note Ben's awesome farmers tan)

And the wail

And happy again

Noah LOVES his thumb, He is constantly sucking on either his fist or his thumb, its pretty cute even though I'm dreading this "bad" habit when he is older.

All around, he is a really happy baby. He is always smiling and laughing.
